Libyan Political Dialogue Participants Arrive in Morocco; Talks to Start Friday
19 March 2015 - A round of Libyan political dialogue, facilitated by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) and hosted by Morocco, will convene on Friday 20 March 2015.
The invited participants arrived in the Moroccan city of Skhirat on Thursday evening 19 March 2015.
The participants will follow up on discussions made in the earlier round of talks on 13 March the key items on the agenda, namely the formation of a consensual national unity government to end the institutional divisions, and security arrangements to end the fighting and ensure the withdrawal of armed groups from Libyan cities, including the capital Tripoli.
The Mission is confident that the Libyan participants are coming to the talks prepared to address these issues in a spirit of openness, reconciliation and determination to reach a political agreement to bring peace and stability to Libya.
The Special Representative of the Secretary General for Libya, Bernardino Leon, will address the media on Friday 20 March 2015, at 9:30 a.m., at the Conference Centre in Skhirat before the opening of the sessions.
