07 Jan 2020 - TUNIS, 07 January 2020 – UNSMIL convened yesterday a meeting of 19 Libyan economic experts representing the main Libyan financial and economic institutions as well as the different economic sectors. The experts, who took part in the meeting, were selected based on their capacity to represent interests from across the Libyan political and geographic spectrum.

17 Dec 2019 - TUNIS, 17 December 2019 –UNSMIL in collaboration with OHCHR completed a three-day training on the integration of gender into the Universal Periodic Review Process[1]. The training targeted 15 geographically diverse women activists working on issues related to gender equality, combatting gender-based violence and promoting human rights.
16 Dec 2019 - Tripoli, 16 December 2019 - Reda Fhelboom, a well-known human rights defender and journalist was arrested and detained at Mitiga airport by a Tripoli based armed group on Saturday night, following his arrival from Tunis.
02 Dec 2019 - The Members of the Security Council expressed their deep concern at the recent escalation of violence in Libya. The Members of the Security Council stressed the need for all parties urgently to de-escalate the situation and to commit to a ceasefire.

The United Nations has documented at least 58 attacks on health workers and health facilities in 2019, as of 25 October.

TRIPOLI/ 17 October, 2019 - Three months ago, Siham Sergewa, an elected member of the House of Representatives, was seized at night from her home in Benghazi. Since her violent abduction by armed men, Ms. Sergewa’s fate remains unknown.
