Tunis, 15 October 2017 - The Joint Drafting Committee of the House of Representatives and High Council of State met at UNSMIL to continue finalizing the amendments to the Libyan Political Agreement. The discussion was facilitated by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General to Libya, Dr. Ghassan Salamé. The meeting commenced with the setting the agenda for this round of discussions.. The focus of today’s meeting was on the selection mechanism of the reduced Presidency Council and Prime Minister, in addition to the competences and responsibilities of the Presidency Council and Government.  

 A collaborative and positive spirit prevailed throughout the discussions. Joint Committee members affirmed the need to achieve results and quickly to enable elections to be held as soon as possible to end the transition and usher Libya into institutional and political normalcy.
