14 Oct 2017 - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ghassan Salamé, met with the Dialogue Committees of the House of Representative and High Council of State tasked with drafting amendments to the Political Agreement. He congratulated them on the safe return after extensive consultations with their colleagues and wished them success in reaching understandings that would move the political process out of the current impasse.
13 Oct 2017 - On 6 October, the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) successfully implemented a special-to-theatre training of 12 Libyan Military Engineers. The month-long training aimed to enhance the Libyan capacity to carry out Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and respond to the contamination resulting from protracted armed conflict.
13 Oct 2017 - Tunis – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has started providing vital food assistance to families who have been displaced by clashes between armed groups in western Libya’s Sabratha. The area has recently experienced an upsurge of conflict.
Since the end of September, more than 15,000 people have moved to nearby cities and quieter areas of Sabratha city.

09 Oct 2017 - Sabratah – In the aftermath of weeks of conflict in the Libyan coastal city of Sabratah, at least 4,000 migrants, previously held in numerous informal detention centres and camps, have been transferred to a hangar in the city’s Dahman area, where IOM, the UN Migration Agency is providing emergency assistance.

The attack, for which the Islamic State (ISIL) claimed responsibility, killed at least three and wounded over 15, including civilians.
